Wayne Rosen, MD, MSc, FRCS(C), FASCRS, is a clinical assistant professor of Surgery at the University of Calgary. He completed his medical degree at Queen’s university and his general surgery training in Calgary. He did subspecialty fellowship training in colon and rectal surgery at the University of Texas in Houston. He has a Masters degree in Bioethics from the University of Calgary. He is currently the chair of the Medical Skills Course and the co-chair of the undergraduate bioethics course in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Calgary. He has an active practice in colon and rectal surgery at the Peter Lougheed Centre in Calgary, and participated in the development of the Royal College exam in Colon and Rectal Surgery. As an educator, he has a special interest in the role of information technology in medical education. Within bioethics, he has a special interest in topics dealing with end of life, consent, conflict of interest, and industry influence on medical research. He is also interested in the challenges and limits of Evidence-Based Medicine.
