Maitreyi Raman, MD, FRCPC, is a gastroenterologist, physician nutrition specialist, medical educator and clinical associate professor at the University of Calgary. She completed medical school at the University of Ottawa, followed by Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at Dalhousie University, and Clinical Nutrition fellowship at the University of Toronto. Dr. Raman then completed a Masters in Science, Medical Education at the University of Calgary. Dr. Raman’s clinical and research interests are in clinical nutrition, specifically nutrition support and malnutrition in patients with liver diseases and Inflammatory bowel disease. Dr. Raman is passionate about medical education. In particular, she has won many teaching awards locally in UME and PGME, and has previously received the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology Young Educator Award. Dr. Raman is also a medical education researcher and is assessing the impact of novel teaching strategies including the flip classroom in UME.
