Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Dalhousie University

Cheryl Murphy, MD, MEd, FRCPC is a staff Psychiatrist with the Seniors’ Mental Health service at the QEII Health Sciences Center. She holds a cross appointment with the Division of Medical Education. She completed her undergraduate medical training and psychiatry residency at Dalhousie University and then went on to complete a fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry. She completed a Master of Education at Mount Saint Vincent University and is currently enrolled in the Certificate in Medical Education at the University of Dundee.

Dr. Murphy has been the Psychiatry Clerkship Director at Dalhousie since 2005 and the Director of Undergraduate Education in the Department of Psychiatry since 2011. She enjoys teaching all levels of learners, both in the classroom and on clinical rotations. She serves on several educational committees locally and with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons. She has presented posters and workshops on topics related to medical education at national and international conferences. She received the Dalhousie University Early Career Faculty Award of Excellence for Teaching in 2016.
